'Wellies & Paws' in Peterborough

We had a fab time at the Wellies and Paws walk in Peterborough yesterday! :) After a minor hiccup involving me getting lost because my Googlemap didn't make sense, having to be rescued from a nearby pub by Shaun and holding everyone up for about half an hour I arrived to a big cheer! How embarrasing!!!!

Anyhow it was great, the weather was perfect and it was a great sight to see nearly 30 collies all off lead running around playing together. Monty was off having the time of his life and Mitch was having a great time socialising. I let him off a little but kept him on a long lead a lot too as this was our first walk. I think next time he should be able to go off lead properly, but he loved it! Everyone who approached us seemed overwhelmed with the amount of dogs coming towards them. LOL

Toffee, Whizzies dog, disappeared part way through the day, she must have been in bits, I know I would have been, but after a search party went out Bridget found her doing circles near the car park all panic stricken. But now she was safe and sound, she must have been having so much fun she forgot to follow everyone! But a happy ending at least :)

We stopped at a cafe and some people had a bite to eat and drink while we chatted. Spoke to Shaun a bit about his bike and told him about Don's obsession and htey should get together for a ride out sometime!

Then after that we did one more walk around the lake, got caught up in a mini storm and got soaked, so on the way home the car stunk of wet dog. But all in all a fantastic day, really enjoyed it. It's nice to get together with a load of people with the same passion. Can't wait for the next one!

One month in...

Well Mitchey has been with us for just over a month now and settling in fantastically well! Monty can have his bossy/greedy moments but i have really seen them bonding from the tug of war play together from more recently sleeping cuddled up in one dog bed together... Mitch wouldn't even go in a dog bed alone when he first got here! They sleep upstairs most of the time now, and quite often I've woke up to the sight of Mitch on his back, legs spread. :) That's a great sign of contentment.

Also Mitch doesn't lie down when I put his harness on him for walks, in facts it takes me five minutes to stop him doing the collie wiggle around the hallway as he is so excited he's going for a walk! He still absolutely hates walking by the road, but quite the opposite on the field playing fetch. He's getting to fetch the ball/frisbee more often than not now as Monty gives him his chances, but still not quite got the hang of bringing it all the way back yet.

He went to the vets and had his second jab and health test so all up to date now on that side of things. He loves his food, he gobbles it all up and I can see he's slowly putting on weight as he was at least 5k underweight when we went to the vets.

Well tomorrow we have our first 'Wellies and Paws' walk in Peterborough, looking forward to that!
